St. Paul Park is ideal for residents of all ages. Senior citizens will feel right at home with everything there is to do here. The South Washington County Senior Center is located at 8400 East Point Douglas Road. It offers activities like pitching horseshoes, volunteering opportunities and more. In addition, the senior center offers tours, dancing classes, parties, dominoes, book discussions and so much more. It is sponsored by School District 833 Community Education and it is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. If relaxing or being active is something you enjoy, the St. Paul Park Parks and Recreation Department offers several parks throughout the community for your favorite activity. Abdella Memorial Park on Hastings Avenue offers a paved walking path, tennis courts, play equipment, a basketball court and picnic shelters. Axelrod Park is handicap accessible and it offers shelters with electrical service, lighted parking, sports fields, a half-court basketball court and more. It is located on Pullman Avenue. Sittlow Park on First Street is a brand new park with modern equipment and amenities. There are other parks, including Heritage Park, Lions Levee Park and others so you are sure to find something that meets your needs. The St. Paul Park Heritage Days Festival is an annual event for the entire family. It occurs during the third week of August each year and every year there is a different them. Volunteers plan the festival all year and meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month. If you would like to volunteer, all you have to do is show up to the meeting at City Hall. The festivities typically consist of a golf tournament, social time, dinner, volleyball in mud pits, carnival games, moonlight bowling and much more. The St. Paul Park Fire Department is dedicated to keeping residents safe in a variety of emergencies. It includes 27 on-call firefighters who are on-call in case anything occurs. They are all trained in handling issues with hazardous materials, medical emergencies, fire emergencies and more. The department also offers fire prevention classes and other resources to help citizens stay safe.
